Air Malta is the national airline of Malta, based at Malta International Airport, and started flying operations in 1974 with two Boeing 720s.

The airline bought their first new aircraft in 1983 (three Boeing 737 200's) with 2 more being added in 1987, part of an expansion that saw 1.6 million passengers carried in the 2002-2003 season.

The airline now has a fleet of 13 aircraft, connecting Malt with around 50 locations in Europe and North Africa.
