Finland is a largely flat, or rolling, forested country although in the extreme north, mountains rise to over 1,300m. It also has a labyrinth of lakes (literally thousands) and inlets with much of the countryside being unspoilt. There are in-fact 35 national Parks in Finland.
Wild-life watching is increasingly becoming a tourist activity.
Finland straddles the arctic circle and boasts space, fresh air and a guaranteed white Christmas while the region of Lapland, is of course the home of Father Christmas and his reindeer.
The official languages are Finish and Swedish, though only approximately 5% of the population speak the latter.
Finland is a member of the European Union and the currency is the Euro.
Finland is also a Schengen country.
