Budapest, the capital of Hungary is considered by some to be one of the worlds most beautiful cities and has survived through it's troubled past to enchant visitors with it's lively arts, music and street cafes. Lake Balaton has sometimes been called the Hungarian sea - the lake is over 70Km long and the real sea is a long way to travel. In summer the lake reaches a temperature of of 25 deg C, making swimming very pleasant. Hungary is a member of the European Union and the currency is the Forint. Hungary is also a Schengen country although it does not apply to air travel until 29/03/08. |
