Average age of aircraft - 17.4 yrs, according to www.airfleets.net 07/01/18
BMI Regional is reported to have the following aircraft fleet:
4 Embraer ERJ 135
16 Embraer ERJ 145
Trading as Flybmi, previously a subsidiary of BMI, which itself became fully owned by Lufthansa in 2009 and subsequently sold to International Airlines Group (the owner of British Airways and Iberia) in 2012, BMI Regional was sold off separately later that year to Sector Aviation Holdings Ltd.
As a result, BMI Regional is now a stand-alone airline, operating under the chairmanship of Ian Woodley, a co-founder of Business Air, the airline which was BMI Regionals predecessor, sold to British Midland (later re-branded BMI) in 1996.
In 2015, BMI Regional, together with Loganair, became part of the newly formed Airline Investments Limited.
BMI Regional carried 415,000 passengers in 2016, an increase of 1% from the previous year.
The airline ceased flying operations on 16/02/19.
The airline has blamed the situation on spikes in fuel prices and the uncertainty surrounding the UK's exit from the EU.
