The current CityJet airline resulted from the merger of CityJet, who were already owned by Air France/KLM, and VLM Airlines who were taken over by Air France/KLM in 2007.
VLM Airlines started flying operations in 1993 with a scheduled service between London City airport and Antwerp .
The airline has a fleet of 19 Focker 50 aircraft (50 seater twin engined turboprop) and carried 625,000 passengers in 2005.
In December 2007, VLM was taken over Air France-KLM. In 2008 they were still trading as VLM and co-operation with CityJet, which is also owned by AirFrance-KLM.
In 2009, Air France-KLM announced that VLM will gradually start to operate under the Cityjet name (also Air France-KLM) with a complete phasing out of the VLM name in 2010.
In 2014 CityJet was sold to German investor Intro Aviation.
The airline carried approximately 2.3 million passengers in 2011.
CityJet airline has bases at London City, Dublin and Antwerp.
Since 2017, the airline ceased scheduled flights and instead concentrated on charter flights and wet leases.
