Frankfurt/Main Airport, otherwise known as Rhein-Main Airport, is located 9Km South West of Frankfurt, the fifth largest city in the country and its financial centre.

The two terminals are divided into concourses, A, B and C in Terminal 1, D and E in Terminal 2.
An extension to Terminal 1, A Plus, opened in late 2012, increasing aport capacity by a further 6 million passengers per year.
A third terminal is under construction with an expected completion in 2022.

To and From the Airport


The airport has 2 railway stations, one for long distance travel,including high speed trains located 200m from Terminal 1, and the other, located below Terminal 1, for local journeys.
Good bus links exist with the local area and a free shuttle train connecting the two terminals.

Terminal Facilities


The Airport City Mall shopping centre is located adjacent to Terminal 1.
A 4 billion Euro expansion to the airport, including a fourth runway and the A Plus Terminal 1 extension, was completed in 2011, .
Frankfurt airport became the first German airport to introduce free WiFi in 2011 (payment required after 60 minutes free connection).

The 5 star Steigenberger Airport Hotel, The Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers, The Hilton Frankfurt Airport Hotel, plus the 4 star InterCity Hotel are located at the airport, the latter in Cargo City.

64.5 million passengers made use of Frankfurt airport in 2017, a 6% increase from the previous year, making it the largest airport in Germany and the 4th largest in Europe, after London Heathrow, Paris CDG and Amsterdam.
