Expensive items were stolen from our bags on our return trip to Newcastle as there was a delay to our flight. Keep your perfumes and electronics deep in your bag.

The advantage is that of a small and relatively quiet airport: usually friendly service, easy to find your way around, cheap food & drinks available. Good assistance for people with young children. Preferred over Heraklion (very crowded) by a wide margin. Of course, in the middle of the tourist season it' s not as quiet, but if compared to some other airports I visited it' s very reasonable.

My husband and I have travelled all over and because of his walking problems I always book assistance but this was by far the worst airport we have ever used. If it hadn't been for some fellow travellers I don't know what we would have done. It is quite a walk from the coach park into the airport, there was no one help even find a wheelchair for him let alone help with the bags. I was just told 'you have priority'. Don't mind waiting to the end if there is help. Would avoid this airport in future.

Free Wifi and a bottle of cold water( 0,75 L) for€ 0,50. I have never had this before. Great.

Fairly straightforward arriving in Chania, the return though, what a nightmare. Surly staff and double queing makes it an unpleasant experience. Would love to go back to Crete, but not through Chania.

In September chaos reigned! People had to queue twice (once to check in) once to get their hold baggage X-Rayed. Non-existent signage, unhelpful staff, seats were pre-allocated check in lady blamed Monarch Airlines!

A fairly good airport in the winter months, but cannot cope with the increased traffic in the summer. It has taken more than one hour for luggage to appear on the conveyor belt, which is very frustrating. The smoking policy is openly flaunted by airport staff.
